Alfred Bowman Jennings III

Alfred “Al” Bowman Jennings, III, born January 27, 1951 in Savannah, Georgia, passed away on February 4, 2015, surrounded by his family and his priest. He lived and died in his beloved city of Charleston, South Carolina. After graduation from Georgia Tech in 1974, he became the youngest Director of the Savannah Civic Center, making it a destination point for Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, KISS, and Bob Dylan. Al went on to work for many years as the Production Manager at Sunbelt Coca-Cola, and then traveled the world as an engineering consultant to the Food and Beverage Industry. Al loved good music, good food, lively conversation, and all things Georgia Tech. Most of all, he cherished his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Annie; his son, Bo; his former wife and forever friend, Christine; his niece, Lisa Lamb of Miami, FL; and his cherished dog, Ricki. We hold him now in our hearts, and his voice will always speak to us. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors at Roper Mt. Pleasant Hospital for their tender care, comfort, and support during Al’s illness. A Solemn Requiem Mass will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at the Church of the Holy Communion, 218 Ashley Avenue, Charleston, SC 29403. Al was recently welcomed, cared for, and confirmed there as an Episcopalian. The family invites you to visit at a reception afterwards in the church.
