Carolyn Thomas Bowen

Carolyn Thomas Bowen, 72, entered into eternal rest at the Trident Medical Center on Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

Carolyn, of Summerville, was born on March 13, 1950, in Newberry, South Carolina, Carolyn was the daughter of Charles Downard Thomas Jr. and Annie Mae Robertson Thomas. 

Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, her twin brother Carol Thomas, and her beloved husband John Franklin Bowen Sr. She was also predeceased by her beloved pet chihuahua, Minnie.

Carolyn was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant, having worked at Whitten Center in Whitmire, Estill Nursing Home in Estill and Hallmark Healthcare Center in Summerville. She was a member of Miles Road Baptist Church in Summerville.

She is survived by stepchildren, Iris Bowen Winn (Murphy), Shirley Jean Bowen, Carole Bowen Tubbs (Peter) and John Franklin Bowen Jr. Surviving siblings are Charles Donald Thomas and Robert Allen Thomas. Carolyn will also be missed by a host of family that call her Grandma Carolyn and Aunt Carolyn, Sis and Aunt Sis, and special sisters-in-law, Florence Bowen Parrish and Betty K. Thomas.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Beaufort National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Miles Road Baptist Church at 816 Miles Jamison Road in Summerville, SC 29485 or to the charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Palmetto Cremation Society, 5638 N Rhett Ave, Charleston, SC 29406.
