Catherine "Cathy" J. Collins (Yale) was born on July 5, 1953, (Ridgewood, NJ) to Robert D. Yale and to Marion Yale (Smith).
Cathy leaves behind 2 sisters, Judith "Judy" Ann Doiley (of Georgetown, SC) and Janet Louise Yale (of Columbia, SC). While married to the late Dwayne Bernier, Cathy gave birth to Christopher M. Bernier (Arizona) and to David Bernier (Maine). During her marriage to the late Ronald L. Jackson, she birthed Robert O. Jackson-Singleton (Jackson) of Charleston, SC, and the late Lawrence Jackson. She also has a total of eight grandchildren. Three from Chris, three from David and two from Robert.
She served in the US Air Force for 3 years and 6 months (June 1976-January 1980), and obtained the rank of Senior Airman (E4), as an aerospace control and warning operator. During this time, she earned the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.
After moving to Andrews, South Carolina, she attended Trident Technical College and worked at the Veterans Affairs Office. She later worked at various jobs located between Myrtle Beach, SC and Walterboro, SC.
During her final days, she was surrounded by her son (Robert), son-in-law (Charles) and grandchildren.
