Charles Lee Carley, 78, of Charleston, died June 22 2016 with his family at his side. He was the son of the late Jesse Lee Carley and Evelyn Collins Carley. He is survived by his loving wife, Margie “Margo†Carley; step-son, Randall Kevin Steadman; sons, Harold Lee Carley and Kip Darwin Carley; grandchildren, James B. Johnson IV, Shawn Hali Johnson, Whitney Alaina Steadman, Louisa Rebecca Steadman, and Hollie Michelle Richardson; great-grandchildren, Jayden Travis Norton, Jacob Kevin Steadman and Dylan James Richardson; sister, Laterisa Prowse; brother, Bobby Carley; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-daughter, Cynthia M. Lennon. Mr. Carley was retired from the US Navy and was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. In earlier years, he was a practicing Mason and Shriner. He was also retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard Machine Shop 31. He enjoyed square dancing for many years. He was beloved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held July 12, 2016 at the Naval Base Chapel in North Charleston at a time to be announced.
