Chester Allen Davis

Chester Allen Davis, 72 of Summerville, SC died on Thursday, December 11th, 2014. He had battled cancer for the past 6 months. He was born on October 11th, 1942 to the late Chester Louis and Bernice Lillian Davis in Indianapolis, IN. He graduated from Indiana State University in 1964, majoring in Biology and Physical Education. On August 14th 1964, he married Barbara Alice (Hodges) Davis and she survives. He spent most of his adult years in Greencastle, IN. He will be greatly missed by his four children: Margo (James) Black of Goosecreek, SC; Marla Wood of Bloomington, IN; Matthew (Sheryl) Davis of Romney, IN and Mark (Christine) Davis of Memphis, TN. Chester loved the Lord and showed it by his willingness to help others. He always kept the door open for family and friends to stop in to visit. In addition to his wife and children, he was blessed with ten grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Grumps”: Jessica (Matt) Schenkel, Mitch Black, Keagan Burk, Deyton Burk, Jaren Black, Brett Davis, Micah Davis, Mason Wood, Colleen Davis, Katie Davis; and two great grandchildren: Davis and Charlotte Schenkel. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents, three sisters and one brother. They are Bernice Lewis Davis, Emogene Fidler, Claudeen Shelton and Thomas Davis. A private family Memorial service will be held at a future date.
