David C. Lacz, 56, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, May 4, 2016. David was born August 27, 1959, in Paterson, NJ. He was one of three children of John and Diana Lacz, raised in Wyckoff, NJ. He went through the Wyckoff school system and graduated from Don Bosco Prep. He then spent time developing his skill set, eventually finding his way on a boat beginning his lifelong dream. David has been working in the yachting industry for the past twenty plus years. Ten of those years were spent as a private yacht captain sailing throughout the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Atlantic Ocean, and U.S. waters. He started working for Bartram & Brakenhoff in 1995 as a yacht broker. In 1998 he purchased Bartram & Brakenhoff in Newport, RI, then in 2000 opened the Ft. Lauderdale office. He was a resident of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and spent the summers in Newport, RI. He made many lifelong friends throughout his career in the yachting industry. David was a dedicated son, caring brother, and a loving uncle. He was passionate about both his work and his family. David is survived by his mother and father, Diana and John Lacz of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his sister Donna Slaughter (Jim) of Lutherville, MD and their children Brian, Doug, and Laura; and his sister Susan Lacz of Chevy Chase, MD and her children Nate and Ayden. A memorial service will be held at St. Elizabeth’s Church in Wyckoff, NJ, Monday, May 23rd, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of David to Don Bosco Prep, 492 N.
