Desiree Carroll Jackson

Desiree LaJuan Carroll Jackson, 46, died unexpectedly at her home in Irmo on January 14, 2025. She was  born on Friday, November 24, 1978 in Anderson, SC, to David Carroll and Cathy Nelson Madden.

Desiree is a 1997 graduate of Chapman High School in Inman, SC. She received her bachelor's degree in English from Newberry College, Class of 2001. After college, Desi volunteered at the help desk and various information booths for DragonCon, supported local hockey teams, and worked as customer support for various companies, the most recent being GE. 

In 2007 she married Bryce (Jason) Jackson. 

She enjoyed watching science fiction tv and movies, writing fan fiction, listening to K-Pop music, participating in SCA events and enjoying all things theater. Desiree loved with all her heart and was an advocate for mental health awareness, animal rights, and the support of LGBTQ+ rights and communities.

Desi is survived by her husband, Jason, her stepson, Christian D. Jackson, her mother, Cathy Madden, her father, David Carroll, her step-father, Taylor West; her beloved fur babies, Jemma Ann and Bear; her uncle, Michael Carroll (Pam), her aunt, Kellie Smith and her uncle, David Nelson (Beverly). An uncle, Flynn Carroll preceded her in death. She is also survived by her cousins Timmy, Terri Ann, Leigh, Lyn, Tommy Ray, Tara, Tiffany and Jared, as well as many friends from around the country. 

A private memorial will be held for the family and friends at a later date.
