Mt Pleasant Dolores Dyer, 86, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2015. Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 18, 2015 in St. Andrews Church, Whilden Street, Mt Pleasant. Burial will be private at a later date. Dolores was born April 3, 1929, in Birmingham, Alabama, daughter of Albert Dyer and Alice Dyer Blanchard. The family moved to Charleston in 1941. She attended Memminger High School where she was involved in all sports and was a cheerleader. She attended the College of Charleston and played on the basketball team at Newberry College. Dolores previously worked for the Department of Defense and retired as a Computer Systems Associate from Robert Bosch. She is survived by 3 daughters, Dora LaTorre, Joyce LaTorre King, and Lynn LaTorre Fortenberry of Charleston. Her only son, Randy LaTorre and her brother Clint Dyer predeceased her. She also leaves behind her 4 grandchildren, John Russell Fortenberry, Margaret King, Pearson King, Marie Ouzts. Dolores was an active volunteer, a Pink Lady at Roper Hospital, Hot Line Counselor, Girl Scout Leader, Spoleto Festival, Literary Associate, poll worker, Sunday School Teacher and substitute teacher to name a few.
