In Loving Memory of Doris Duffey 

December 2, 1932- December 7, 2024. 

Doris “Dodie” Duffey, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Born Doris Mildred Doar in Charleston, SC in December of 1932, Dodie lived a life full of love, grace, and service. 

Dodie worked diligently at Atlantic Coast Life Insurance Company for more than thirty years, where her warmth and dedication left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. Outside of her professional life, her greatest joy was her family. She was the proud mother of three daughters- Connie Morgan (d. 2023), Sharon Pruitt, and Rhonda McNally (m. Timothy McNally), the loving grandmother of six grandchildren, the doting great-grandmother of four, and the delighted great-great-grandmother of one. 

A devout and active member of St. Johannes Lutheran Church, Dodie’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. For over seventy years, she graced the church choir with her stunning soprano voice, sharing her talent and devotion with the congregation. 

Dodie’s legacy is one of faith, love, and music. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, unwavering kindness, ability to lift spirits with a song, and insistence that all she loved were her “adopted children”. 

A service to celebrate Dodie’s life will be held at St. Johannes Lutheran Church at 48 Hasell St, Charleston, SC on Saturday, December 21, 2024, beginning at noon, with visitation with the family beginning at 11 in the Taizé Chapel. Her service will be held in conjunction with the memorial service of Marcelle Floyd, her dearest friend (d. Oct 2023). In lieu of flowers, donations in Dodie’s honor can be made to the music fund at St. Johannes. 

She will be missed by all who knew her, but her memory will be deeply cherished by all whose lives she touched.
