Elouise B Ammon
08/28/1919 - 12/27/2019
Elouise was born in Memphis, TN in 1919 to Eva and Cleveland Brickell. She grew up in Vicksburg, MS with her siblings, Mary Jo (JoJo) and Malcolm (MC or Brick).
In 1940, she married George F Ammon, Jr. They shared almost 60 wonderful years together before he passed away in 1998.
Elouise was proud of and loved her career as a wife, mother of 5, grandmother of 11 and great grandmother of 13.
She spoke fondly of her time as a military wife and kept everything under control when George served in three wars (WWII, Korea & Vietnam).
She loved to play bridge and was quite proficient at it. She was a very talented seamstress. She made clothes, costumes, decorations, doll clothes and even a doll house.
Elouise was a Red Cross volunteer and earned the Clara Barton Award, the highest award the American Red Cross bestows on volunteers. It recognizes meritorious service in volunteer leadership positions held over a period of years. Recipients of the award are inducted into the Clara Barton Honor Society.
A memorial service will be held at 10am on January 18th at Rodenberg Chapel at Franke at Seaside. The family will then travel to St Lawrence Catholic Cemetery in Sumter to place her ashes next to George.
We are deeply grateful to Franke at Seaside and the love and care they showed to our Elouise. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Lutheran Homes of SC Foundation, 300 Ministry Drive, Irmo, SC 29063-2366
