Emily Elizabeth Brown Kocis, of Mount Pleasant, SC passed from this life, of peritoneal mesothelioma cancer, on January 7, 2017 to be with our Lord forever. She fought courageously for two and a half years. Emily is survived by her husband Bradley Farrington Kocis and their daughter Elizabeth Ryan (3 years). Born on October 4, 1988 in Mount Pleasant, SC to Jack and Ellen Brown, Emily was raised in Greer, SC and graduated from Riverside High School and the University of South Carolina with a BA in Business Administration. She was an active member of Chi Omega Fraternity. She and Brad were married on November 5, 2011. She was a devout Christian. Of all her accomplishments in her 28 short years, her greatest accomplishment by far was the birth of her daughter Elizabeth. Emily was compassionate, loving, and graceful. She was born to be a mother and she loved her daughter and husband Brad with her entire being. She has left an inspirational legacy of strength, dignity, grace, and perseverance that will live on through her family, her beautiful daughter, her loving husband, and the large community of people she touched with her story. Emily was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Ryan and Thelma Graham of Newberry, SC. In addition to her husband, daughter and parents, Emily is survived by many close relatives and innumerable friends. These include her two brothers Phillip Brown of Los Angeles and Schuyler Brown of Greenville; her paternal grandparents, Donald and Ida Brown of Vallejo, CA; her in-laws, Robert and Melinda Kocis of Greer; her sister-in-law Megan Epps (McNeil) of Greenville, and brother-in-law Andrew Kocis of Chicago - and her niece (Goddaughter) and nephew - Charlotte and Patrick Epps of Greenville. A Celebration of Emily's Life will be held at Covenant United Methodist Church, 1310 Old Spartanburg Road, Greer, SC 29650 on Friday January 20, 2017 at 3pm.
