Ernest W Grimball IV

Ernest W. Grimball IV of Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest on the morning of January 6, 2025. Ernest was born in Charleston, SC on January 3, 1976, the son of Ernest W. Grimball III and the late Katherine M. Watson. 

Ernest was a talented craftsman and the past owner of Sea Island Custom Hardwood Floors. He was hard worker, a kind soul who loved his parents and extended family, sailing his father’s boat, the SIOD Undine V, hunting and his dog, Serena.

 He was strong in his faith and will be missed by his church family. Those who knew and loved Ernest will miss his smiling face, his gentle nature and his abiding love for family and friends.

Ernest is survived by his father, Ernest W. Grimball III, his mother, Kathleen, his sons, Tyler (Alex) Grimball of San Diego, CA, Kameron Grimball of South Korea (USAF), a daughter, Cailey Poole (Hunter) of Texas, brother Chris Austin of Florida, niece Nadine Austin of Atlanta, grandmother Margaret J. Grimball, aunt, Anne G. Minshew (Grey), cousins Grey Becker Minshew (Anna) and Evan Minshew (Aubrey) as well as many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ernest was predeceased by his grandfather, Ernest W. Grimball Jr., aunt Susan G. Hirsh, and cousin Amanda Harris.

A Requiem Mass will be held on February 01, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Timothy’s Anglican Catholic Church (1900 Old Parsonage Rd., Chas. S.C. 29414) in a celebration of his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ernest’s memory to Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary, 5604 New Road, Hollywood, SC 29449 or to the charity of one’s choice.
