Eunice Marie Emley (Nevala), age 93, of Simsbury, CT, and beloved wife to the late Paul Emley passed away on September 19th, 2023, in Summerville, SC with her family by her side. Eunice was born in South Range, MI, the daughter of the late Emil and Impi (Lumpus) Nevala. She was a graduate of Painsdale High School and attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Houghton, MI where she earned a degree in nursing. Upon graduation, she worked as a registered nurse in Detroit, MI where she met Paul, the love of her life. After living and working in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Georgia, they settled in Simsbury, CT.
Eunice worked as a registered nurse at St. Mary's Home in West Hartford, CT from 1972 until 2008. She loved taking care of the Alzheimer and Dementia patients. She was a devoted and compassionate nurse, always helping those in need.
Eunice was an avid traveler, often attending many professional tennis tournaments throughout the United States and Canada. She took great pleasure in her annual visit to New York to attend the US Open Tennis Tournament. She was a passionate Red Sox fan, always watching and cheering from the comfort of her home.
Eunice is survived by her children, Sharon Allen and her husband Michael of Summerville, SC, Michael Emley of Bradford, VT, and Mark Emley of Land O' Lakes, FL; grandchildren Jason Earley, Kevin Earley, Christopher Emley, Katherine Emley and Roderick Emley; great grandchildren Emily Gosselin and Austin Earley and several loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Gordon Nevala and her sister Ruth Farbo (Nevala).
The Emley family would like to thank the AGAPE Hospice Program for making the last stage of Eunice's life comfortable.
