Frances Brown Cheatham

Frances Brown Cheatham, 84 of Johns Island, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023.

Born on April 5, 1939 in Poughkeepsie, NY, Frances was the daughter of the late Helen Brown (Grimm) and Francis Brown.

Frances took great pride in raising her children in the 60's and 70's in Honolulu, Hawaii, Bremerton, WA and Summerville while her husband (ex)Thomas Wieda travelled the oceans as a Naval submariner, during which times he was completely out of contact for months. Upon moving to Summerville in 1970 she ventured into a career in real estate which spanned over 35 years with O'Shaughnessy Real Estate (Carolina One). Fran found her calling and worked hard to help her clients find the best home to meet their needs. it was not unusual for her to open her home until the clients' home was ready. Frances loved to travel and her family cherishes their wonderful fun memories of family visits, camping and visiting both Disneyland and Disney World.

Frances was an avid reader and her friends at CCPL kept her in books for many years. She stayed busy crocheting and teaching others the craft. She enjoyed serving those in need via Summerville Meals on Wheels.

Later in life she flourished in her church life at Christ Church Anglican. Through study and devotion and prayer she was inducted as a Daughter of the King. She enjoyed working with DOK groups throughout the region on retreats and other events.

Frances is survived by daughters Cheralaine Dougherty (John) and Shelby Bowles and son Thomas Wieda. She leaves behind grandchildren Natalie Cordina (Brandon), Regan Henry ( Justin) and Allen Rutland. And great- grandchildren Mills and Lucy Cordina.

Frances is preceded in death by her son-in-law Stewart L Bowles, Sr.
