Frances Munnerlyn Bailey, 85, of Beaufort, SC, entered into eternal rest in Mt. Pleasant, SC on November 14, 2014. Frances was born on March 5, 1929 in Columbia SC, to the late Mozelle Satcher Munnerlyn of Ward, SC and Edward Wright Munnerlyn of Georgetown, SC. Frances graduated from Florida State University in 1950 with a degree in Social Welfare. She was a dedicated teacher for much of her adult life teaching at many Columbia, SC schools including, AC Moore and Hammond Academy. She went on to earn her Master of Education from USC and spent the later part of her teaching career devoted to teaching learning disabled children. Frances was a devout Christian all of her life attending St. John’s Episcopal Church while living in Columbia. After retiring to Beaufort, SC, she was an active member at St. Helena’s Church where she served on the vestry and as a docent. Frances served the Lord with love, dedication and grace. God guided her to help those in need and she touched many lives along her journey through life. She loved to swim at the YMCA and was an avid walker. One of her favorite hobbies was gardening. She was also an adventurous traveler, and an accomplished pianist. We celebrate Frances’ loving, caring soul, her tenacity and zest for life, her bravery in the face of adversity, and especially her sweet nature. She is survived by her husband, Arthur W. Bailey of Baton Rouge, LA and by her 5 children; Edward Gaston (Angie), Macon GA; Katie Gaston Pollock (Mike), Columbia SC; Frank Gaston (Susan), Hilton Head SC; Clint Gaston, Asheville NC; and Nanette Gaston Casanova, Charleston SC. Beloved Grandchildren include Rachael Gaston, Taylor Gaston, Derek Gaston, Beth Pollock Turner (Jason), Patrick Pollock (Ginnie), Hannah Pollock, Branden Sullivan Burr, Frances Jordan Gaston, Nicole Casanova Pridgen (Matthew) and 7 great-grand children. She is predeceased by her sister Beverly Munnerlyn Thomas, of Atlanta GA, ex-husband David W. Gaston of Columbia, and husband William A. White of Columbia. Graveside service will be held at Spann Cemetery in Ward, SC on Saturday, November 22, at 1:00pm. The family thanks the caregivers at Savannah Grace in Mt. Pleasant for the exceptional care she received there. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Assoc.
