Frank Saltarelli was born in Jamestown, N.Y. in 1922. He passed one month shy of his 93rd birthday which would have been October 8. Frank was the son of the Rev. Peter Saltarelli, long-time pastor of the Edison Street Baptist Church in Buffalo, New York, and Anna Saltarelli, nee DeStefano. Frank earned his wings as a civilian pilot on December 7, 1941. He then joined the Navy where he flew F4F Wildcats off carriers in the Pacific theater. Following the war, Frank had a long and successful career with the AC Delco Division of General Motors Corporation. Frank and Dorothy Tucker of Pittsburgh, Pa., were married on October 12, 1963 They lived in Birmingham, Michigan and Ft. Wayne, Ind.. Frank and Dorothy moved to Boca Raton, Fla. following Frank’s retirement from General Motors. In 2008, after Dorothy passed, Frank moved to Bishop Gadsden. At Bishop Gadsden, Frank was very active in charitable giving and Eliza’s Attic. Frank is survived by his niece Judy Markham; four nephews: Arthur, William, Peter, and Gerald Saltarelli; many great-nieces and nephews; and dear friends at Bishop Gadsden. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Bishop Gadsden Employee Appreciation fund or the Residents Assistance Endowment in Frank’s memory. The family wishes to express its profound gratitude for the love and support shown to Frank by the residents, staff and employees of Bishop Gadsden. Arrangements for a memorial service will be announced later.
