Glenn Joseph Kern, 63, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
Born on April 30, 1961, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the oldest child of Joanne Margaret Kern and Glenn Thomas Kern.
Glenn proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 2002. His military career spanned several decades, including his time as a Gulf War veteran. He also earned his Bachelor’s degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University while serving. Following his retirement, Glenn continued to serve in the Department of Defense in civil service roles until his passing, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to public service.
Outside of his professional achievements, Glenn was a man of many interests. He enjoyed the freedom of the open road, often riding his two motorcycles, and he found joy in playing guitar and in building and racing RC cars. Glenn’s love for adventure, family, and the simple pleasures of life defined his character, and he was known for his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.
He is survived by his wife, Lynne Kern; his daughter, Tiffany Richter; and his two grandchildren, Peter and Leah. He is also survived by his mother, Joanne, and his sister, Karen. Glenn will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
