Gregory Moore Ensign

Gregory Moore Ensign fought the good fight, but was called away from us on November 28, 2024 at the age of 75. Born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in the Shaker Heights area Greg was the second oldest of four children and was preceded in death by his wonderful and fun-loving parents Gerald and Patricia Ensign.

Greg graduated from Ohio Wesleyan and obtained his Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio. Having worked in private practice and the State of Ohio Mental Health office Greg ultimately ended his Ohio legal days in December 2003 after several years as Vice President and General Counsel at Kirkwood Industries in Cleveland. Having relocated to Charleston, SC in June 2005 Greg became a Broker/Realtor and also joined Agra Tech International, a biotech/chitosan start-up enterprise, as Executive V.P., Secretary & General Counsel and lastly employed with the Motley Rice Law Firm in the Mount Pleasant, SC office.

Greg spent much of his youth and adult years creating great memories at his grandparents’ and parents’ homes in Cleveland, Cape Cod and Marathon Key. Until recent years Greg was an avid golfer and enjoyed this challenging sport at a variety of courses both nationally and outside of the U.S. His knowledge of football and golf was impressive and made for great entertainment, however, his fury with his Cleveland teams often made one cover their ears. He had the uncanny ability to make a comment while watching a play or shot only to have the color commentator follow with the exact same statement.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Samantha “Sammi” Ensign, two daughters Julie Smith (granddaughters Hailey and Ella) and Jennifer Smith (son-in-law Scott and grandson Logan), two brothers Chris (Robin) Ensign, Scott (Katie) Ensign and a sister Sue Winslow-Anderson (Rob) as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition he leaves two step-sons Aaron Turner and Eric Turner, two step-grandchildren Samantha Turner and Christopher Turner and one great-grandson Nathaniel Turner plus many wonderful friends. His two little Yorkie girls, Sadie and Gracie, have been anxiously waiting to be with their daddy again.

A Celebration of Life in Cape Cod will be scheduled at a convenient time in the future for his loved ones.

Until then, he would want us to enjoy each day by relaxing, watching a good golf tournament and perhaps having a vodka martini in his honor!

Here’s to a one-of-a-kind man who will be missed more than he could ever imagine! Memorial contributions to the Parkinson’s Foundation or a pet rescue  organization of your choice would be much appreciated by the family.
