Gwynette Picquet Smith Choate Hatcher left this world for a better place in Heaven on October 31st 2017 she was 74 years young. She is now with her mother Francis Picquet Smith Bledsoe and Her Father Gilbert L Smith Sr.
Gwynette spent her life helping others. She started volunteering with the blind in 1967 and eventually helped form the American council for the blind here in Charleston. Gwynette always nourished and helped her kids and grands. She was always there for baseball, football, karate, Cub Scouts, Brownies, recitals with an encouraging word.
Gwynette was the past worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Loyalty Chapter 136 ,she was also a life Member. She was the 915 point of Light presented to her by George Bush and an active member of Saint Mark UMC.
She is survived by Her Husband and best friend Richard Hatcher Her Sons B.Neil Choate and Billy Choate; Her Daughters Fran Choate,Sheila Cutrill And Charlene Hart; Her Grands Zachary,Morgan,Joseph and Samual; Her Brother Gilbert L Smith; and Her Sister Rhonda Smith.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 am, St. Marks UMC.
The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. A reception will immediately follow at the church.
She will be Greatly Missed by all who knew and loved her. Sweet Dreams Mom we love you.
