On Saturday night October 31, God called Ina Gay Hamrick, 67, of North Charleston into his arms. Born on March 23, 1948, Gay was blessed with two most loving parents John C. Hamrick Jr. and Mary Emma Rambo Hamrick. The family were members of Park Circle Presbyterian Church where she remained a member until her death. When her grandson and granddaughter were born, Gay could not have been happier. Any mention of her grandchildren always brought a twinkle to her eyes and a smile to her face. Gay graduated from North Charleston High School in 1967 After marrying and moving to other states, she later returned to Charleston and worked at Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co. in the Retail Accounting Department. But sometimes life throws us a curve as it did Gay. Shortly after a stroke paralyzed her left side completely, and needing assistance with daily tasks, she was admitted to Langits Assisted Living Facility in North Charleston where she stayed until her death. Just like everywhere else, Gay made many friends there. Our family’s heartfelt thanks go out to them and Agape Hospice for all their loving care and support during her final years. While many may remember Gay as a gracious host for parties (Halloween being one of her favorites), a fantastic cook, and a wonderful friend or co-worker, few knew of her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. That faith is now being rewarded as she is called home to Heaven. Gay would always say that God had blessed her with wonderful friends and family and that was all that really mattered. More accurately, we are the ones blessed for knowing her. She is survived by her Husband William Watson, brother Jack Hamrick (Donna) of North Charleston, daughter Jenny Dangerfield (Rick) of Hanahan, son Bill Wilson (Laura) of Jedburg, grandson Nicholas Elliott of Chico, CA, and granddaughter Megan Elliott of Hanahan.
