Irene P. Starr

Irene Priscilla Starr was born on May 11, 1936 in N.Y., and passed away on September 30, 2023 in John’s Island, SC. She was 87 years old.

Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always loved to laugh, fish, and play cards. She was an avid reader and always had a good book close by beside her. She was a Christian who always tried to help others less fortunate than herself.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Eddie Starr (Ann) of FL and Henry Starr (Penny) of N.Y. She is survived by her children: Richard Vopelak (Diana) of Ellenburg Depot, N.Y.; Linda Dane (Johnny) of Wadamalaw Is., SC; Mary Tarr (Floyd) of Lexington, SC; Diane Crosby (Bill) of Lexington, SC.; her grandchildren, Daniel Vopelak (Teresa); Donald Vopelak; Jessica Payne (Ryan); Joline Tenorio (David); Jordan Dollason; and eight great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service was held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Charleston, SC, on October 13th, 2023.
