James Robert Bailey

James Robert Bailey, 72 of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

Born on August 9, 1951 in Indianapolis, IN Jim was the son of (the late) Elizabeth Bailey (Schneider) and (the late) Maurice Bailey.

Jim Bob, as he was known to most, was a kind gentle loving man. He was quiet and often called himself just a little old country boy. He loved his family and enjoyed attending reunions in Indianapolis every May. His love of cars started early when he followed the family legacy and sold newspapers at the Brickyard. His love of music became widely known when he was discovered signing in the gym shower and invited to join a rock band. Performances at Battles of the Bands, dances, weddings, featured entertainment venues and reunions became the norm for years.

James is survived by his two children (JP and Kim), Margaret Beach (Sister), Esther Shelton (Sister), Richard Bailey (Brother), Jane McArdle (Sister), Ginger Condon (Sister), Deborah Smith (Forever Love) Taryn and Matthew Gadbois (Stepchildren).

A memorial service will be held in Indianapolis, IN in May during their family reunion. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org) Jim Bob's favored charity.
