James Frederick Carr

James Frederick Carr, 82, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025. Born in Cleveland, Ohio to Fred and Helen Carr.

Jim was a man of many passions and great dedication throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jay.

Jim's journey began in Fredonia, NY, where he grew up and met the love of his life, Marlene.

The two were married for 58 wonderful years. Jim's legacy lives on through his beloved wife, Marlene; their son, Eric (Erin) of Cicero, NY; daughter, Lisa (Todd) Warwick of Mount Pleasant, SC; and three cherished grandchildren, Rayna, Anna, and TJ and great grandchild Ryder. He is also survived by brother, Paul Carr, and his sister Karen (Joe) Henry.

Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1965 as a Military Police Office. His military service was a chapter of his life that marked the beginning of his lifelong commitment to serving others.

After his military service, he pursued higher education with great determination. He attended the University of Fredonia, where he met Marlene, before graduating from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. He furthered his education at SUNY Cortland, earning a Master of Science degree. Jim dedicated 25 years to SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, where he served as Director of Campus Activities. He also helped run the family business "I'll Be Dip'd Ice Cream" in Eastwood, NY, and "C&C Used Cars."

In his spare time, Jim was an avid golfer, bowler, and Nascar fan, and he loved to tinker with cars, always finding joy in fixing and improving them. He was an enthusiastic fan of all sports, both playing and watching with great passion.

A man who was loved and respected by all who knew him, Jim's greatest joy came from spending time with his family. His kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by his loved ones and friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Veterans' Victory House and Hospice for the exceptional care provided to Jim in his final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be mailed to the **Veterans' Victory House** 2461 Sidneys Road, Walterboro, SC 29488.
