John C. Roitzsch, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus at MUSC, died November 21, 2012, at home with his family by his side. He was born in the 'Channel' in New Orleans on November 13, 1930. John's devotion to his family and loyalty to collegues and friends served him well as a true gentleman. He was a renaissance man in his profession working in research, as a clinician, and teaching, but his greatest fulfillment was the training and mentorship of young psychology interns at MUSC. He is survived by his mother Vianna Roitzsch of Metairie, LA, his wife, Pamella M. Roitzsch of Sullivan's Island, SC, sister, Rosemary R. Sullivan of Metairie, LA, and his children: Kristin H. Small (James), Frederich E. Roitzsch (Lisa), and Karla R. Swain (Martin), as well as his grandchildren - Lt. Alexander Small, Monica Swain, Isabelle Swain, Jameson Roitzsch, and Elisabeth Roitzsch. A memorial service to celebrate and honor John will be held at 4:30PM on Monday, December 17, 2012, at St. Luke's Chapel, MUSC.
