John Louis Hooson, Jr.

Beloved Husband, Father, PePaw and Friend, at the age of 59, John Louis Hooson, Jr, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Roper Hospital. Born July 24, 1960 in Charleston, SC John was a son of John Louis Hooson, Sr. and Julia Ann Basel. John graduated from Goose Creek High School and Trident Technical College before moving away to pursue his dreams. He was a business owner, race car driver, and loving father before returning to Charleston where he remained until his death.

John loved cars, racing, English Bulldogs, and being a PePaw to his grandchildren. You could find him in the garage working on his car or out on the lake with friends.

John married Myrt in 2000 in Charleston, SC. They were happily married for 19 years. John was preceded in death by his father, John Louis Hooson, Sr.
John is survived by his wife Myrtis A. Hooson (Whalen) of St. Stephen, South Carolina; Four children: Elizabeth (Shaun) Holzkamper, Eddie (Garan) Lemarr, John Louis Hooson, III, and Rebecca Hooson; Mother: Julia A. Hooson; Three Sisters: Cheryl Kohlhepp, Rachelle (Larry) Bouronich, and Monica (Keith) Cotton; Seven grandchildren: Emily Hooson, Jennifer Hooson, Ashleigh Holzkamper, Alyssa Holzkamper, Dillon Hooson, Josiah Lemarr, and Nataliya Hooson; Six nephews: Ryan (Jackie) Kohlhepp, Dean Kohlhepp, Aaron (Lindsay) Bouronich, Wesley (Candice) Bouronich, Jared Cotton and Derrick Cotton. Four Great-Nieces and one Great-Nephew.
