Judith Chaworth Ward 49, of Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024.
Born on July 6, 1974 in Charleston, Judith was a daughter of the late Louise Mcllwain Ward and Dr. James Ward Jr.
Judith, affectionately known as, Judith Cha or Cha, graduated High School at First Baptist Church School, (Charleston) Class of 1992, she received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1996 and a Master's degree in Health Education from the University of South Carolina in 1999. She spent most of her career working for the State of South Carolina in the Health Education field and the last five years serving the public ensuring others' needs were met. She was a member of the Eastern Star and also served on the vestry for a time at Church of the Good Shepherd Anglican Church in West Ashley.
Cha had the most infectious laugh and always lit up a room with her wit and humor. She was passionate and fiercely loved her family and many friends. She never met a stranger, always spoke her mind, and was rarely seen without her dog Maddox.
Judith Cha is preceded in death by her parents Louise McIlwain Ward, Dr James Ward Jr., and her brother William "Mac" McIlwain Ward.
Judith Cha is survived by siblings, Thomas Rush Ward (Stephanie), Elizabeth Ward Paddock; Niece, Ainslie Paddock Sprague (husband Ethan and their sons), and nephews Robert Bradford Paddock, James William Ward, and Brandon Allen Donaldson.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 3PM at J. Henry Stuhr Chapel, West Ashley, 3360 Glenn McConnell Pkwy, Charleston.
The family will receive friends at Gilligan's Seafood, 160 Main Rd. Johns Island after the service. The restaurant will have the enclosed porch sectioned off.
