Kristen Michelle Watson White passed away on July 4, 2024; four days before her 52nd birthday. Kristen was a devoted mother and wife and a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. 

Born in Dallas, Pennsylvania, Kristen grew up in the greater Philadelphia area, where she became a star lacrosse and field hockey player at Friends Central School. Kristen attended the College of Charleston in South Carolina, eventually making Charleston her permanent home. While at the College she earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and Special Education. She also joined Chi Omega sorority, from which many lifelong friendships blossomed. 

Kristen dedicated her career to supporting children with significant developmental needs and their families. She was a compassionate educator, a fierce advocate for her students and social justice, and a respected colleague. Kristen loved her yard and animals, wind chimes, music, boating, and the ocean, with a special connection to both Folly Beach, South Carolina and Avalon, New Jersey. Kristen brought love, light, and laughter to all who knew her. 

She is survived by husband John P. White II, and children Liza Michelle and Joseph Tilghman White, mother Michelle Meagher Watson Johns, stepfather Michael Johns, sister Angela Maria Watson (partner Amanda), and stepbrothers Benjamin Johns (wife Alison) and Zachary Johns (wife Sarah). She is also survived by sister-in-law Catherine White Murphy (partner Bryan), her nieces Hannah and Hope Murphy, her uncle Mark Watson (wife Susan), aunt Maryjean Watson Avery (husband David), and cousins Kara Wanzer, Bryan Watson, Erin Watson, Jake Watson, Derek Watson, Walden Avery, Harley Avery, Mya Watson, Ella Watson, Cole Watson, Quinn Watson, Mae Watson, and Sharon Homan. 

Kristen was predeceased by her father Joseph Watson, grandparents Mary and Charles Meagher, Jean and Walter Watson, and uncles Walt Watson, Greg Watson, and Ken Watson. 

A memorial service will be held in celebration of Kristen’s life on August 9, 2024, 12:00 noon, at St. James Episcopal Church, 1872 Camp Road, James Island, SC 29412. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kristen’s name may be made to the charity closest to your heart.
