Mary E Moore

Mary Ellis Moore of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on June 19, 2017. she was born in Springfield, MA in 1920, graduated from the High School of Commerce in 1937 and Bay Path Institute (now Bay Path College in Longmeadow, MA) in 1939. for several years she was a field representative with Blue Cross Blue Shield in MA. She also worked at the Mass. Institute of Technology in Cambridge during World War II, in England with the MAAG-UK (Military Assistance Advisory Group), attached to the US Embassy in london, at Young and Rubicam Advertising Agency in New York City, and in Washington as Executive Secretary to the Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Admin. (NOAA).

In 1969 she married Donald f. Moore, Colonel, USAF (ret.) and lived in Rockville, MD. In 1975 they moved to Stowe, VT and in 1983 to Seabrook Island, SC.

Mrs. Moore leaves behind her husband, Donald F. Moore, four stepchildren: Patrick Moore, Jan Haslam, Michael Moore and Kathleen Sawyer and seven grandchildren, a brother, Peter Ellis and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Mrs. Moore's name to the Residents' Assistance fund, Bishop Gadsden Retirement Community, One Bishop Gadsden Way, Charleston, SC 29412. Burial will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
