Milton “Buddy” Dan Shope, Jr., 63, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, within his home and peacefully in his sleep, on January 23, 2023. He is survived by sisters Belinda Peterson, Cindy Aeshbacher & Marlyn Gallardo, as well as several nieces and nephews; his children Nancy Shope Johnson and Jeremy Shope; 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 1 soon to be expected. Buddy, better known as “Papa” to most, was a very genuine and kind-hearted man. He lived a simple life as the things that meant the most to him, you couldn’t put a price tag on it. Ultimately, the sum of what he wanted was for his family to love each other as a family should and to remain together and support one another unconditionally. Buddy had a certain soft spot for his grandchildren, or “Nuggets” as he would refer to them. From the moment each one entered into this world, Papa found a new kind of love. He was so proud of his children and so proud of his nuggets! Spending time with his nuggets brought him the utmost joy in life!
Daddy…Papa...we love you! Until we meet again. See you later!
Arrangements have been made and a memorial service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023, at Palmetto Cremation Society located at 5638 N. Rhett Ave, N. Charleston. Visitation for immediate members of the family will be from 12:00-1:00 pm and from 1:00 pm -1:30 pm for other family & friends to pay their final respects. The service will take place from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.
A GoFundMe account has been created to raise money towards all expenses, as there was no life insurance coverage to be applied. Buddy/Papa never concerned himself with the cost of anything really and he lived more so a YOLO type of lifestyle. If any of us needed a thing and we went to him for help, he would make sure that we were taken care of, without question. He would give his last dollar and not think about it after. His selflessness and generosity actually kept him “together” as he wanted only for each and everyone in life to experience happiness and joy as he was. The family is asking that any contribution towards services and expenses be made through the GoFundMe account at this time.
