Richard C. Litzinger, 79, of Grand Valley, PA, passed away July 25, 2016 at home in Charleston, SC after a long illness. He was born on December 24, 1936 in Warren, PA to the late Richard H. Litzinger and Annie I. Sanden Litzinger. On April 3, 1958, he married the late Elizabeth (Betsy) Martin Litzinger. He graduated from Youngsville High School in 1954 and was in the Army National Guard 1954 thru 1957. Most of his career he worked in construction building bridges on the interstates and local roads. He was a member of the Local Carpenters Union and retired from PENNDOT in 1998. Rich was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. After his retirement, he worked in his woodshop creating furniture and decorations for his home, family and friends. He was a member of the Grand Valley United Methodist Church. Rich is survived by his daughter Cynthia and her husband Joe Cahill, Charleston, SC and his son Richard and his wife Pam, Torpedo, PA; four granddaughters, Megan and husband Jason Bishop, Kimberly and husband Justin Miles, Stacie Litzinger, Mary Litzinger; and great-grandsons Jacob Miles and Anders Bishop. His sister, Sondra Brown in Sugar Grove, PA, a brother-in-law, Charles McFate in Pittsfield, PA; several nieces and nephews also survive him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy, of 57 years, his parents, a sister, Peggy Ann McFate and a brother-in-law, Harland (Red) Brown. A memorial service will be at a future date.
