CHARLESTON - Robert B. Bolan, aged 71, passed away on December 15, 2024, in his home, in Charleston, South Carolina following a 30 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born on July 2, 1953, Robert’s life was marked by his unwavering faith, love for his family, and a distinguished career in the restaurant industry. Robert was a graduate of Bolton High School in Alexandria, LA, and furthered his education as a graduate of Ohio State University. His professional journey began with the Darden Co., managing 46 steakhouses along the East Coast. His entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as he co-founded the Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. in Canton, Ohio, and later joined the franchise of Quaker Steak and Lube, achieving record-breaking sales during its grand opening.
A born-again Christian, Robert was baptized in the ocean off Seabrook Island through his church, James Island Christian Church, where he was a devoted member.
His love for sports was evident in his participation and enjoyment of basketball, baseball, football, softball, running, and golf. He loved his Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Indians.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Amy (Anania) Bolan; daughters, Melissa (Bolan) and Steve Mikes, Jessica (Bolan) and Josh Jarrett, and Melissa (Bolan) and Sean Wise; son, Robert and Jane Bolan; sister, Rebecca Bolan; brother, Tony and Maria Bolan; seven grandsons, one granddaughter, and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Bolan; mother, Gail Webb; and son, James Bolan.
At Robert’s request, no funeral services will be held. A Celebration of Life will take place on February 1, 2025, at James Island Christian Church, 12 Sawgrass Rd, Charleston, SC.
