Ronald Wayne Suggs (Ronnie), 76 of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on the early morning of Friday, July 5, 2024 after losing a valiant battle with multiple myeloma.
Born on November 24, 1947 in Charleston, South Carolina. Ron was a son of the late Myrtle Willie Suggs (Quick) and George Thaddeus Suggs.
Ron grew up on James Island in the Riverland Terrace community and attended James Island High School. He joined the army in 1966, serving in Vietnam during his two year tour. He met his wife on Folly Beach in 1968 and they were married in 1970. An exuberant and outgoing individual, Ron enjoyed golf, fishing and camping with his family and friends. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 27th 1973.
He found his greatest joy in the Bible educational work, sharing his faith with others and aiding many to join him in true worship of Jehovah. Ron's occupation as a HVAC contractor and his pastime of golf led him to many cherished relationships. Ron was always ready with a warm smile and a word of comfort, even at times when he was the one who needed encouragement.
After being diagnosed in June of 2023, he continued to set a fine example of faith, remaining courageous and speaking with others about the Bible's promise of a time when suffering, sickness and tears of sorrow will be gone from the earth forever. (Revelation 21:3,4)
He is survived by his devoted wife, Debi Suggs, his three sons, Aaron (Emily) Suggs, Jonathan Suggs and Tylor Suggs. His three grandchildren, Sam Piazza, Raleigh Suggs and River Suggs. His siblings, Kenny (Debbie) Suggs, Kathy (John) Smith and Ricky (Joni) Suggs.
He is predeceased by his son Brandon Suggs and his sister Ann McMillan (Suggs).
