Sara Lokey Ward Reed

Sara Ward Reed, 90, died peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at her home in Charleston, SC., following a brief battle with leukemia. She was a graduate of Atlanta’s Girls High School and the University of Georgia. She was an active member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority at UGA and offered alumni support to the chapter at Brenau University. She was a resident of Gainesville, GA. for 50 years.
Sara loved sports of all kinds, especially tennis, bridge, and UGA football. She was also an avid traveler and visited many counties.
Sara is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamilton Ward (Ruth), and the father of her children, Robert Jefferson Reed.
She is survived by: her daughters, Ruth Reed Pendergrass (Richard) of Watkinsville and Sara Elizabeth “Beth” Reed of Charleston, SC.; her two grandchildren Katie Pendergrass Eveleth (Jonathan) of Raleigh, NC., and Reed Pendergrass of Atlanta, GA.; and two great grandchildren Charlie Eveleth and Anne Eveleth.
