Shae A Edgar

Shae Alvarez Edgar, age 70, of Cocoa Beach, FL passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, due to complications from scleroderma. Shae was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States at the age of 21, leaving behind her mother, twin sister, and 4 brothers in the Philippines. Fiercely independent and driven to make a new positive life in the US, she lived in New York and California before finally settling in Cocoa Beach, Florida where she met and married her husband of 33 years, James (Jim) Edgar. Shae worked all her life at various jobs, primarily as a successful independent hair stylist/barber. She and Jim retired in 2014 and traveled extensively across the US, Mexico, Central and South America, to New Zealand and many countries in Europe. Shae was always ready to plan and go on another trip! She was such a positive light, an outgoing social person who loved to interact with other people, playful and affectionate too! She also took pride in her home and her appearance, dressing up stylishly at every opportunity, known widely for her fun style and snappy look! Shae was an honest woman with an unwavering sense of right and wrong, showed empathy and kindness towards others, and was diligent about living a healthy lifestyle, cooking & eating healthy, exercising regularly, etc. She was also generous, donating to environmental and humanitarian organizations and helping family still living in the Philippines. Shae did not have any children of her own. Survivors include her husband James (Jim) Edgar, her twin sister Raquel, brother Abraham, and many nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the excellent team at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) medical system and hospitals who treated Shae with such excellence and kindness. Of special note is her longtime rheumatologist, scleroderma specialist, and "bestie" (who Shae loved), Dr. Faye Hant.
