Stephen Blackwood passed from this earth on August 12, 2014 in Awendaw, South Carolina. He was born fifty-three years ago in Landstuhl, Germany. He had a love of place for the East Cooper area. As a young man behind the wheel of his mighty Road Runner, later riding his Harley Davidson and lastly exploring the forests and trails with his faithful dog, Patches, at his side. Stephen served with honor and distinction in the United States Marine Corps, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. His passion and expertise for all things mechanical led to a second career as an automotive, equipment and small engine mechanic of unmatched skill and technique. He knew a love of the outdoors and possessed a green thumb, exercising it in the garden, growing exceptional fruits and vegetables season after season. He enjoyed helping others, and was quick with a smile or good joke. In this time of passing, the family will conduct private services. A commemorative with his name will be placed at the Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park Veterans War Memorial.
