Talley Anne McDaniel

Talley Anne (Stewart) McDaniel, 58, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, at her home in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina following an extended illness. Talley was born in San Francisco, California on February 9, 1966. She was the eldest daughter of Raymond and Bonnie (Steger) Stewart. Talley grew up in La Jolla, California where she attended All Hallows Academy and La Jolla High School. She attended St. Benedict Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant and had great appreciation for Father Mark Good. Talley was steadfast in her faith in God. Talley was diagnosed with Glioblastoma in November 2022. She never stopped fighting it.

Talley had an active social life and was always on the go. She was a former exercise instructor for the YMCA and loved to walk the Ravenel Bridge over the Cooper River. She enjoyed golf, tennis, hiking, being outdoors especially on the beach, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Talley really really loved her two yellow English Labradors - Sonny and Cash. Talley was a proud, beloved member of the Mt Pleasant community. Some knew her as a volunteer, some as a friend, some as a mentor, but all will say she was one of a kind. She never passed up an opportunity to make someone smile, to give a compliment, or to brighten someone's day. Her faith kept her going and by God's will she is no longer suffering or in pain. She was a walking example of what a faithful warrior of Christ means.

Talley graduated from Menlo College and later earned Master's Degree from San Jose State University. Her work in life included college admissions, real estate sales and retail management. She volunteered her time often for various organizations including the Florence Crittenton maternity home in Charleston, South Carolina. 

Talley was predeceased by her brother Raymond Talley Stewart, Jr. She is survived by her parents Raymond and Bonnie Stewart of Medford, Oregon; her husband Kevin McDaniel; her daughters Whitney Poll of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Callie Poll (Alex Swecker) of San Francisco, California, and Maddie Poll of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; her stepdaughter Alyse Eisenberg (Aaron) and granddaughter Ayla of Pittstown, New Jersey; her stepson Wesley McDaniel (Taylor) of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is survived by her brother Tyger Stewart (Marie Jose) and her sisters Wendy Stewart, Shannon Hintze (Jim) and Teri Bair (Charles). Talley is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Lutheran Hospice in Mt. Pleasant for the kind care and support they provided Talley, especially her nurse Mae K and caregiver Cassandra. Also, for the kindness and care provided by Beatriz and Bella, and for her physical therapists Ed, Steve and Beth with Amedysis.

A memorial service to celebrate Talley's life will be held in the Cooper River Room at the Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park at 1:30 PM on Monday, June 17, 2024.
