Terry Wayne Woosley, born January 2, 1946 in Lexington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on March 6, 2017 following a brief illness. Having spent most of his adult life in Jacksonville, he recently retired to Hilton Head, SC. His father, Charles S. Woosley (Ethel), mother, Esther I. Klapheke, and brothers, Steve Woosley and Jimmy Halcomb, preceded him in death.
Left behind is his loving life-partner of 32 years, Craig Schoninger; daughters Michelle “Flossie Mae” Tucker (Greg) and Alison “Bobo” Mitchell (Eric). The lights of his life were his grandchildren Corey “Bear” Woosley, Paul Allen and Alex Mitchell. He was adored by his favorite Gin Rummy opponent, sister Karen Sharp (David) and several nieces and nephews.
Terry’s never-ending insertion of puns into ALL conversations was his charm and he was always up for cards or games with anyone who dared accept the challenge. As a young man, he proudly served his country in Vietnam. Although an accomplished businessman, his life centered around his family, friends and beloved kitty-cats.
A memorial service will be held at Murray Hill Baptist Church, 4300 Post St. at 2pm on Saturday March 11th with a Celebration of Life to follow at a friend’s home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local Humane Society.
