Thomas Lief Read

Thomas Lief Read peacefully passed away on March 9, 2024

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marianne Moore Read, his sister Rosemary Cohen, his
nephew Nathan Wilensky(Pam), two nieces, Sally Magodvitz and Julie Cohen.

Tom’s world was populated with his family, many, many friends and his love for music. He was
intelligent, witty and creative. His idea of taking a “shelf in Daddy’s store” and making it into a
first rate, high end audio business was the natural result of his talent, his foresight, and his
desire to maintain the traditions of his family business.

Lifelong curiosity led Tom to study a diversity of subjects. He began his college career at
William and Mary, studying chemistry. He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in
classical music composition. Photography and astronomy were among his hobbies. He was an
avid runner.

A memorial service for Tom is planned for a later date.
