William Elliott Hammond, 23 of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2012. Born Thursday, April 13, 1989 in Charleston, South Carolina, he was the son of Ray Hammond and Merideth Hammond. William attended Ashley River Creative Arts as a child and graduated from Charleston County School of the Arts in 2007. After high school, he attended Trident Technical College. He worked for the Charleston County Public Library for many years. William aspired to become a high school English teacher. He was an avid reader, history buff, lover of politics, and had an eclectic taste in music. He had a fearless spirit, kind heart, saw beauty in everything, and loved all creatures. When he put his brilliant mind to it, he could tackle any task put before him. Surviving in addition to his loving parents are his sister, Ellery Hammond and his grandmother, Shirley Moseley. William was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald Moseley and Ray and Natoma Hammond. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in William's memory to the Charleston County Public Library at 68 Calhoun St., Charleston, SC 29401.
