William David Hurt

William David Hurt, 68, of Charleston, South Carolina passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023. He was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on February 9, 1955. He was the son of Jerry Garfield Hurt Sr. (Joanie) of High Springs, Florida and the late Betty Bailey Hurt of Charleston, South Carolina.

David is survived by his daughters, Joanna Robin Hurt of Washington, D.C. and Kathryn Susan Hurt Baldwin of Summerville, South Carolina, as well as a grandson, Sullivan Mack Baldwin. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry Garfield Hurt Jr. (Lisa) of Green Cove Springs, Florida, and his sisters Cathy Hurt Coleman (Lee) of Hudson, Florida, and Julie Hurt Winthrop of Trenton, Florida. David leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

David was known for loving his family, animals, Redskins football, Golden State Warriors basketball, surfing, golfing, shooting at the gun range, sporty cars, eating any and all food without gaining a pound, arguing about politics, napping, dressing sharp, and having a good time. 

The family invites friends to an informal drop-in between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Bowens Island Restaurant, 1870 Bowens Island Road, Charleston, South Carolina. Friends are encouraged to bring pictures and share stories.
